Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present and Future, the nonprofit dedicated to supporting the local music scene and its players, is hosting a concert at the Beachland Ballroom. In keeping with its name, it features a pair of musicians from very different generations but similar musical tastes: jazz singers Shirley Cook and Ava Preston.
Cook has been performing almost twice as long as Preston has been alive, performing improvisational jazz for more than 36 years, while 17-year-old Preston has only been performing for about four years. While Cook has performed nationally and even internationally, Preston has already built up an impressive reume of performances in regional venues such as BLU Jazz+, Nighttown, the BOP STOP and the Rock Hall.
Catch them both at this free event and then make a donation to Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present and Future so they can keep supporting area musicians.
