Fri 1/28 @ 5-7PM

Tue 1/25-Fri 3/11

At this point, weaving is well established as having grown beyond its craft roots to become a diverse artistic medium.

A new show at Kent State’s Center for the Visual Arts Gallery called Line by Line focuses on six artists in the early stages of their careers as artist-weavers.

Kent State University School of Art professor Janice Lessman-Moss has curated the show to display the diversity of directions in which artists are taking this particular practice.

“All the artists in this exhibition make work that provides a unique perspective on content and a sophisticated fluency with the language of weaving,” says Lessman-Moss in a press release.

The artists include Erin M. Riley, Samantha Bittman, Crystal Gregory, Diedrick Brackens, Kira Dominguez Hultgren, and collaborators Barrow Parke. The show will be on view through March 11 after opening with a free reception on Friday January 28 @ 5-7pm.  The gallery is opens Tuesday-Thursday @ 10am-4pm; admission is free.
