Author of Books on Racial Issues Keynotes Cleveland Foundation Annual Meeting Week

Mon 8/23 @ 7PM

The Cleveland Foundation’s Annual Meeting features a week’s worth of free virtual events through Saturday August 28, open to the public.

The week launches with the Robert D. Gries Keynote Lecture, delivered by author/Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Isabel Wilkerson, whose 2010 book about the Great Migration, The Warmth of Other Suns, made a huge splash and was on reading lists for years. Among other things it won the 2011 Cleveland-based Anisfeld-Wolf Book Award for non-fiction. Her latest book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, published last year, looks at systemic racism as a de facto caste system.

The conversation will be moderated by Cleveland writer/educator/journalist Daniel Gray-Kontar, who founded and is executive artistic director of Twelve Literary Arts, a nonprofit which promotes writing for all ages but especially youth.

Register for the event and learn more about the week’s other programs at clevelandfoundation/meeting/.
