Artist Catherine Butler Shares Story of Her Unique Work in Art House Program

Thu 4/22 @ 7-8:30PM

Cleveland artist Catherine Butler is known for work that can appear whimsical but has sharp teeth. She earned a degree from the Cleveland institute of Art in jewelry and silversmithing, but she’s not your typical art fair jewelry maker: many of her pieces are like miniature sculptures that contain convey layered concepts not usually found in the average pendant or brooch.

She’s also explored other media including ceramics, drawing, animation, printmaking, installation and performance art. Those who saw her contribution to Ingenuity 2019, which combined installation and performance (it involved setting up and crushing a design made with eggshells) won’t soon forget it. And those who’ve run into her at area art openings know that her sartorial style is a form of performance art in itself!

Get to know this intriguing artist (who also teaches art at Laurel School) at Art House Inc’s next Community Culture Night. It’s free and open to all. Go here to join.
