One sector of the arts community has spring back to life, after a fashion. While gatherings of the type that performances require aren’t safe yet, visual arts organizations are putting together exhibits and letting people in to see them; they’re just not holding in-person opening parties yet.
The Sculpture Center is one place you can go to check out some art, with a pair of new shows opening this week. You can see Nowhere is Blue, with glass sculptures by Caymanian artist Davin Eubanks, now head of the glass program at Kent State University, “representing the subjective nature of identity and personal narrative through personal elements,” in the Euclid Gallery. In the main gallery, Transient Connections by Youngstown-based Jennifer Kirkpatrick is “a collection of installations to generate visual distortions of tangible space and contort spaces that only coalesce in the mind’s eye.”
Both shows open with a virtual event Friday January 29 @ 5:30-6:45pm, with the artists leading tours of their shows and being on hand to answer questions, and will be on view through Saturday March 13.
