78th Street Studios Artists & Business Start Extended Days/Hours

Wed 11/11-Sat 11/14

Now that the election is behind us, it’s likely that many people’s thoughts will turn to holiday shopping — and that’s going to be very different this year. For those of us who like to get unique gifts from local artists, craftspeople and makers, the cancellation of most of the holiday fairs and sales is a disappointment, and while some will be online, it’s hard to shop for one-of-a-kind items virtually.

But there will be in-person opportunities to shop local makers in less congested settings such as the holiday shops run by arts groups such as BAYarts and Heights Arts. And the artists, galleries and shops at 78th Street Studios are joining that number.

Instead of just having their doors open on Third Friday, which is now limiting the number of people allowed into the building for everyone’s health and safety, many are extending hours, starting this week, giving people more time to drop in and shop in a less crowded environment. (The annual Cleveland Bazaar, which normally fills the entire building, is only happening online this year.)

On Wednesday November 11 @ 11am-6pm, RampArts Gallery, Bruce Buchanan Design and HEDGE Gallery will be open. On Thursday November 12, in addition to those, the Byzantine Gallery, which sells vintage items, is open from 6-9pm and Googie Style/Dave Crider Designs with its mid-century vintage is open from 4-8pm, and Yellowcake Shop, featuring locally designed women’s clothing, is open by appointment. Additional businesses are open on Friday (bent crayon records @ 12-6pm) and Saturday (Dawn Tekler Studio).

Looking ahead, many of the businesses will be open on Black Friday, November 27. Follow 78th Street’s Facebook page for updates.
