The BOP STOP Streams Five Shows This Week

Thu 9/24-Mon 9/28

The BOP STOP is really alive with activity again. No, they haven’t opened their doors yet, except for an occasional outdoor show next door. But the live streams are coming fast and furious. There’s one every day this week from Thursday September 24, through Monday September 28, with the opportunity to hear a lot of the outstanding musicians who live and work in the area — totally free (although donations to the nonprofit venue are greatly appreciated!)

Start with the Cavani String Quartet Thursday September 24 @ 7pm for a program called Creating Common Threads. It’ll feature music by Beethoven, Eric Gould and more. On Friday September 25 @ 8pm, sax player Dave Sterner leads his quarter Easy Living, blending jazz, standards, Latin and blues.

Saturday September 26 @ 6pm vocalist Vanessa Rubin will perform backed by an organ trio. On Sunday September 27 @ 6pm sax player Matthew Alec (pictured) and his quartet perform to raise money for his new Cleveland Time Records, which will produce, record, distribute and promote recordings by northeast Ohio jazz and jazz-related artists aiming to gain them an international audience.

And finally, on Monday September 28, the Noah Haidu Trio with Rudy Roston and Eric Wheeler will perform live at the BOP STOP in a concert that will also be livestreamed. They’ll e celebrating the release of Haidu’s new release Doctone, an album/video/book on his major influence the late pianist Kenny Kirkland.
