Local Blues/Soul Musician Travis Haddix Brings Big Band and Alumni to Nighttown

Sat 1/4 @ 8:30PM

Blues guitarist/vocalist Travis “Moonchild” Haddix, now 81, has been making music locally since he arrived in Cleveland six decades ago from Milwaukee, where his family moved after ditching Mississippi in last wave of the Great Migration. Inspired by B.B. King, he took up the guitar, which propelled him through a series of gigs in blues and R&B bands.

In the last three decades, he’s focused on fronting his own band. He makes the rounds of blues festivals in both the U.S. and Europe, and he’s got a catalogue of releases on Atlanta-based Ichiban label and later on his own Wann-Sann label, that showcase his blending of traditional blues with uptown soul influences.

He’ll be performing at Nighttown with his eight-piece band, including a full horn section. He’s dubbing the show a Travis Haddix Band alumni reunion night — he’s expecting some two dozen or more past members of his band to show up.vTickets are $20.
