Rooms to Let CLE, now in its sixth year in Slavic Village, is one of the area’s more unusual and unpredictable festivals/arts events. The basics are this: three homes scheduled to be demolished are appropriated to be the sites of a flock of temporary art installations, created by noted local artists as well as community members. They fill all the various spaces: basements and attics, kitchens and bathrooms, halls and porches and driveways. Many of them are interactive, inviting visitors to contribute their own thoughts or make choices. Some involve performances: dance, music, poetry.

Each house has a “curator,” who oversees the choice of artists, their assigned rooms and the installations. This year, they are Shari Wilkins of the Cleveland Print Room, acerbic, a three-person multi-media collective and the Visit Arts Collective.

Activity isn’t limited to the houses, but take place as well in vacant lots scattered around the area. There’s also an artist market on Sunday and a pop-up brewery/eatery courtesy of Slavic Village-based business Saucisson.

Start at Indoor Gardens at 5304 Fleet Avenue to get a wristband and grab a map, and then head out to explore. It’s free.
