Little Miss Sunshine, the musical, is based on the 2006 movie of the same name. With a book by James Lapine (a frequent Sondheim collaborator, including Into The Woods and Passion) and music and lyrics by William Finn, who previously collaborated with Lapine on Falsettos. It centers on a family of wacky misfits travelling together in a Volkswagen bus from New Mexico to California so the youngest daughter can compete in the titular pageant. Mayhem ensues.
The play debuted onstage in 2011, and began off-Broadway performances in 2013. It’s scheduled to open in London this year.
It’s also scheduled for its Cleveland premiere — this week! — at Blank Canvas Theatre in 78th Street Studios. It’ll run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @ 8pm and Sundays @ 7pm through 6/1. Tickets are $20.
