Capitol Theatre’s Happy Hour Film Series Will Have You “Singing’ in the Rain”

Wed 3/20 @ 7PM

The upbeat 1952 musical comedy film Singin’ in the Rain, directed by Stanley Donen and actor/dancer/singer Gene Kelly, stars Kelly as an actor/dancer/singer (go figure!), who is juggling his nasty costar (Jean Hagen) and a young performer (Debbie Reynolds) who keeps popping up in his path and catches his eye. It’s set in Hollywood as the silent film era is ending and talking films are just coming out, and revolve around the Hagen character’s inability to make that transition.

It’s #5 on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 Greatest American Films of All Time, and it’s part of the Capitol Theatre’s spring Happy Hour series of films from that list.

The film screens at 7pm in the theater’s renovated main auditorium. But from 6-7pm, there’s a Happy Hour cocktail party with live music and appetizers. Ticket price includes a mini-cocktail or soft drink. Tickets are $10.
