Musicians, Dancers & Panelists Explore the Role of Arts in the Community at Warren Amphithreatre

Mon 8/13 @ 5:30-8:30PM

Can the arts save a community? In Warren, Ohio, long fallen on hard times, that’s a tall order. But the City Club of Mahoning County is going to tackle the issue at a special event at the Warren Amphitheater attempting to answer the questions “What is culture? Why does it matter? And how can it help us, here, today?”

The event opens with local musicians and dancers from the Mahoning Valley performing at 5:30pm, followed by the Warren Philharmonic and Youngstown Symphony joining for a special event with legendary cellist/musical cross-culturalist/social activist Yo-Yo Ma (who performs at Blossom the previous night) at 6pm.

Then from 7-8pm, the group of panelists put together by CCMV will have a conversation on the topic of culture and community. They include the Reverend Dr. Lewis Macklin II, pastor of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church; William Mullane of the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County; and moderator Deborah F. Rutter, president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
