Tailspinner Children’s Theatre Tells an Australian Creation Story in its Next Production

Talespinner Children’s Theatre takes its guests on some interesting trips to faraway places.

Its next production The Rainbow Serpent is based on an aboriginal Australian myth about Goorialla, the Great Rainbow Serpent and creator of the world who awakens in Dreamtine to create the mountains, rivers and valleys of Australia, along with rainbows and shooting stars. Written by Cleveland playwright Christopher Johnston and directed by Talespinner founder and executive director Alison Garrigan, with movement by Stephanie Wilbert, you can expect it to be filled with dance, ritualized movements, chants, music, colorful costuming and masks.

It runs Fridays and Saturdays @ 7pm; Saturdays and Sundays @ 2pm. Tickets are $10 for 12 and under, $15 for 13 and over. Seniors and college students are $12. (These performances are theatrical tour de forces that can be enjoyed by any age). Pay what you can performances are Sun 9/17, Fri 9/22, Fri 9/29 and Fri 10/6.
