For almost 25 years, the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights has been offering the area’s music fans a variety of music, with a heavy focus on indie rock (and in recent years, more hip hop) from its two locations on Coventry Village.

Early January is a time when people tend to cocoon following the holidays, but the Grog Shop offers a reason to go out. Every year it books some of the local indie talent it regularly features along with touring acts during a free long weekend, a chance to catch some of those local bands you may have heard about through the grapevine, or maybe ones you haven’t yet heard about at all.

Come down Thursday and hear Sweepyheads, Village Bicycle, Heavenly Creatures and Small Wood House. On Friday Swirly in the Fryer, Dune, Weird Science, DANA and Fan Fiction play. Saturday’s lineup includes Axioma, Album, Punching Moses and Pillars. Things wrap up on Sunday with some more laidback music from the Whiskey Hollow, Shawn & Shelby and Mimi Arden.

And yes, it really is all free.
