Woody at Home: Vol 1 & 2, released last summer, featured recordings from 1951-52 by legendary folk singer/songwriter Woody Guthrie. Recorded at his Brooklyn, NY apartment, they were not intended for public release: they were made as a sort of demo for a publisher. The 22 songs include 13 never heard before, as well as new versions of “This Land Is Your Land,” “Pastures of Plenty” and “I’ve Got to Know,” as well as his only performance of “Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos),” a song that resonates even more in light of current events.
Producers Anna Canoni (Guthrie’s granddaughter) and Steve Rosenthal will be talking about the release by the 1988 “Musical Influence” Rock Hall inductee. The multimedia presentation and listening party will include archival images of Guthrie’s lyrics and artwork, and family photos.
