CLE Photographer Janet Century Shows ‘People in Motion’ at Loganberry Books

Janet Century

Wed 9/7 @ 6PM

Few photographers in Cleveland — or anywhere — have quite the eye for capturing people that Janet Century does. Her shots of area events, schoolchildren, business people and others demonstrate a special ability to freeze what legendary photography Henri Cartier-Bresson called “the decisive moment.” She’s done so both in northeast Ohio and her travels, looking for that perfect image she’s got an uncanny eye for discovering.

It’s a real treat that she has put together a collection of photos she’s taken over more than three decades for a show she’s calling People in Motion.

“What ties the selection of imagery together, even though there is no direct subject, time or similarity of environment, is the approach to capturing the moment in motion,” she says. And she promises, “My personal work spans many genres … look forward to seeing upcoming collections defining my legacy photographs, to name a few themes: scenics & landscapes, travel, people & portraits, nature, social political movements & urban culture, local Cleveland neighborhoods, all with the impetus of capturing the ‘Decisive Moment’.”

We’ll look forward to that. This show runs through Tue 11/1.
