The mission of Cleveland’s Djapo Cultural Arts Institute, founded by Talise Campbell, is to encourage and promote African arts and pride in that culture. One of the ways it does so is through its annual Cleveland African Drum & Dance Festival, now in its 7th year. The event features two days of drum and dance workshops at the Phillis Wheatley Center throughout the day Saturday and Sunday, and its Juneteenth Concert at the Breen Center in Ohio City on Saturday evening. Concert tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

In addition to Cleveland drummers and dancers, the event will host guest artists from Senegal, Mali, Congo and Guinea, as well as other parts of the U.S. Go here for more information.
