Young jazz trumpeter Curtis Taylor grew up in Bedford, Ohio, and as a youth, had the opportunity to hear and learn from many of the area’s top-notch jazz artists. After graduating from Bedford High School in 2003, he went on to get his degree in jazz studies at Michigan State and a masters at Rutgers before launching career in earnest. He’s performed with pianist Cyrus Chestnut’s band, toured Europe with sax player James Carter’s quintet and worked with jazz vocalist Gregory Porter.
He’s coming back home to play at Nighttown — a show sure to be packed with hometown friends and family — with his Curtis Taylor Quartet, performing his originals and arrangments of jazz and R&B standards. The group features bassist Dean Hulett, drummer Robert Hubbard and pianist Phil Jones. Tickets are $15.
