Ewan Dobson has made quite a splash north of the border with his free-ranging guitar virtuosity. Starting on classical guitar — a good grounding for any style — he moved on to be a master of fingerstyle guitar. He really attracted a lot of attention when he took the style out of its usual rootsy/folky terrain to apply it to heavy metal. Last year, he released his second such album Acoustic Metal II. He’s now releasing it in the U.S. along with a second album 12-String Guitar, which brings guitar lovers in the states up to speed on his career and the range of things he can do, with tunes form his previous albums along with unreleased tracks. In the wake of those releases, he’s launched his first U.S. tour. His Cleveland debut will take place at Nighttown. Tickets are $15. ewandobson.com/
