It may not be instantly obvious as you drive by, but there’s a lot going on in and around the area at 36th and Superior. The hulking building complex called Tyler Village houses cool and growing young businesses like Indigo Imp Brewery and Gotta Groove Records, one of the country’s few vinyl manufacturing plants. And the new Asia Town Center is right across the street.
So for the second year, the Tyler Village parking lot will be the site of the Groove N Brew festival, created by Gotta Groove and Indigo Imp — and what says summer festival more than a mix of music and beer?
The event will feature five bands playing on Gotta Groove’s loading dock stage, with Cincinnati’s Buffalo Killers (pictured) headlining. The hard-rocking quartet with the retro ’70s classic rock vibe just released its fifth album Heavy Reverie, which it recorded with producer Jim Wirt at his Cleveland studio Crushtone, just up the street from Tyler Village.
Erie’s MEanderthal, Indiana’s Faux Paw, and Cleveland bands Party Plates and Chris Allen & the Guilty Hearts will also play; DJ Alright will be spinning records.
But there’s still more. This month’s Cleveland Flea will be taking place there instead of its most recent location at Sterle’s, in what it’s billing as a “pop up” version.
And did you really need to ask if there will be food trucks? I think they’ve just passed a law requiring them at every outdoor summer event. Boco Loca Burrita Factory, Betty’s Bomb Ass Burger, Urban Sweetness, and Melt Bar & Grilled will be there dispensing food from their trucks. Indigo Imp’s tasting room will be open, of course.
The event is free.
