As of 2018, vacationers to the Erie Islands area had a new stopping-off place on Catwaba: Twin Oast Brewing. The lovely 60-acre property features lawns, gardens and orchards lush with cherry, peach and plum trees. But in addition to being a great place to enjoy the outdoors, it’s also a great place to enjoy a meal and a drink, with its restaurant, a 15-barrel brewery and taproom, featuring the fruit-flavored beers brewed onsite with fruit grown onsite. Staple brews are joined by a rotating menu of seasonals.
Be sure to linger over some food on the patio or on a hillside picnic table; order inside and they’ll bring it to you wherever you are. The menu features casual, bar-food choices such as burgers, perch tacos, chicken sandwiches, wraps, wings, chili, salads and jumbo Bavarian pretzels. But they’re made with fresh, locally sourced (as much as possible) ingredients, served with biodegradable, compostable, environmentally friendly accessories.
