If you need an additional reason to get to a local farmers market on Saturday morning, besides the fact that it’s the height of the season for fresh, locally grown produce, here’s one.
Two area musicians, Roots of American Music founder Kevin Richards and Sheela Das, who has done a lot of work with the educational music group, will be leading a community songwriting workshop at the Gordon Square Farmers Market at Bethany Presybterian Church, West 65th and Clinton, just south of Detroit Avenue.
For an hour, they will show participants how to build on simple blues and other traditional melodies to construct new songs with input from those attending. Bring your acoustic instrument; all ages can join in.
It’s free.
