Vermilion Waterfront

From charming gift shops to fine dining, the arts, entertainment and unmatched festivities, Vermilion truly has something for everyone. Vermilion is known as the crowning jewel of the south shore of Lake Erie. Originally settled as a fishing and small boat harbor, it developed into a resort community in the 1900s with several beaches, cottages and vacation homes.

Reminders of the past are everywhere. Visitors and locals spend afternoons at the beach with a hand-dipped ice cream cone watching the boaters or strolling along Main Street exploring the quaint shops, restaurants and soda fountains. A remarkable amount of historical and often family-owned establishments are still thriving in Vermilion.

Hotspots include Big Ed’s Soda Grill, Granny Joe’s Ice Creamatorium, Brummer’s Homemade Chocolates and Candies, Lake Erie Taphouse, and Old Prague.
