The Greater Cleveland Aquarium hosted a cool art event to raise awareness about shark finning Sat 7/28 in which volunteers and the public outlined 2,500 shark outlines in their parking lot in order to symbolize the number of sharks we lose every 30 minutes.
Check out this video, which includes conceptual and visual artist Jim Gundlach and members of the public and volunteers, all raising awareness of the problem of shark finning.
What’s Finning? That’s when a fisherman harvests a sharks fins in order to sell them for profit. There has been a recent increase in finning because of the high demand for Shark Fin Soup, which is delicacy in many countries from the East. A bowl of the soup can generally be purchased for $70- $150 dollars.
