Ohio City Stages Opens With Dominican Bachata Guitarist Joan Soriano

Wed 7/5 @ 7:30PM

Those July Wednesday evening parties in Hingetown, Ohio City Stages, are back for another year to present an array of global artists bringing a taste of their native lands to Cleveland.

Guitarist Joan Soriano from the Dominican Republican opens the series this week with his steel string bachata, a rhythmic Afro-Caribbean genre that’s distinctively Dominican — and very danceable. In 2010, he released his first international album, sharing his updated take on this traditional music.

Ohio City Stages takes place on a large stage at the intersection of W. 29th and Church (just outside the Transformer Station) where the street is closed off so people can set up their chairs or dance in the street. There are food trucks; there’s a beer garden. And it’s free to expand your musical horizons.
