Pose
This week we welcome back the ballet pose to Cleveland. And a pair of yoga pose bike racks to Lakewood. And a real looker, MOCA’s new museum, to University Circle. And goblins to the gardens at Holden Arboretum. And pumpkins to Huntsburg. And writers to our libraries.
There’s an art walk in Little Italy, a 5K at Nature’s Bin, a parade at the West Side Market, and Steelyard chefs at St. Theodocious. And it’s all on our free mobile app. Hold the pose, Cleveland. We’ve got a few more shots to take. –Thomas Mulready

Cleveland’s patron saint Ian Hunter spent a few days in the Rock and Roll Capital helping to launch a new organization, Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present and Future (wonder where they got that name?), dedicated to supporting and preserving Cleveland’s popular music culture. Hunter has received the key to the city of Cleveland more than once.
Those who knew him are still mourning the passing of music industry legend Steve Popovich, who worked with dozens of major acts and managed Ian Hunter and released his most successful album, You’re Never Alone With A Schizophrenic, featuring the massive hit and hometown anthem, “Cleveland Rocks.”
In this interview on 09/27/12 in the basement of the Beachland Ballroom, owned by Cindy Barber, the driving force behind the new non-profit effort, Cool Cleveland talks frankly with Hunter moments after performing for a sold-out crowd about the legacy of Popovich, today’s music industry, and his recently released and highly acclaimed album, When I’m President. Also check out the video interview with Hunter’s superstar drummer Steve Holley here.
The alarming statistic that deaths due to heroin overdoses are dramatically on the rise in Cuyahoga County — especially among young white folks — has panicked politicians, treatment specialists, civic leaders and law enforcement.
However, if the past is any indication, the panic will simply cause the creation of more failed solutions…

ROLDO: School Levy – Even If It Passes – Really Doesn’t Matter Much I find this a very cynical view of Cleveland. Yes I am working to help pass the levy because I do believe that we can not continue on the same course with so many children failing. Mayor Frank Jackson has taken ownership of this issue to his credit…

You are correct, Mr. find the worst in everything, that it starts at home. That is exactly what the good charter schools are doing and part of the Cleveland Schools reform is all about. Maybe you should speak with the wonderful teachers who are part of the TFA (Teach For America) Program to see what taking an interest in home life has done for the children of Cleveland…

I haven’t followed the levy question but would probably vote against it if I lived in Cleveland. What does paying more money so the teachers’ union will support it have to do with efficiency or education?…
Read the comment from IndyCA35 here
Moving students about town to attempt to realize or improve upon a failed system is hardly the solution. It is criminal enough to send children out into the darkness of pre dawn streets to attend classes or take a bus to another part of town, when neighborhood schools should be a badge of pride , and arrival and dismissal times based more on the students needs than adult dreams…
