Music is certainly a universal language. Jazz guitarist/vocalist/composer Vladimir Cetkar is one more example of that. Hailing from the town of Ohrid in Northern Macedonia, he started as a violinist, but rapidly became entranced by jazz, soul, funk and R&B such as Quincy Jones, Earth Wind & Fire, Cameo, George Benson and Wes Montgomery, better suited to guitar than violin.
Like many musicians from abroad, he arrived in the U.S. to study, in his case at Boston’s famed Berklee College of Music. Since then he’s performed at jazz festivals in Asia, Europe and the U.S. and released three albums including his new Going Home.
He’ll be performing at the BOP STOP. Tickets are $20.
