We don’t typically promote tribute acts, but New York City’s Ramble On, playing at the Beachland Ballroom this Friday, is a little different. Paying tribute to Led Zeppelin, it focuses on the band’s blues and roots which transformed rock and roll and influenced thousands of other bands. And it’s fronted by female vocalist Alex Nikki who brings a different vibe to the aggressive male sexuality Robert Plant’s original vocals.
The rest of the group have all played with recording acts of some renown: drummer Steve Budgie Werner with Ace Frehley and Leslie West, guitarist Richie Ranno with Starz, and bassist/keyboard player Felix Hanemann with ’70s/’80s hard rockers Zebra.
Opening is a Cleveland band with five albums of original material who exhibit very different influences: glam rockers Vanity Crash will play a David Bowie inspired set, honoring one of the most influential artists of our time.
