Five Artists Explore "Layers" at Doubting Thomas Gallery

Fri 4/10 @ 6-10PM

Sean Mabin, formerly owner of the Prama Gallery in Parma, and an artist himself, has put together an exhibit called Layers, opening this Friday at Tremont’s oldest surviving gallery and home of its most diverse and unpredictable shows, Doubting Thomas. It coincides with the monthly Walkabout Tremont.

Five artists, including Mabin, will display work in a variety of mediums that reflects the show’s theme. They include Laura D’Allesandro, Vabner Dubich, Noelle Ott and Kaliban Zehe.

“Everything seems to have layers,” says the show’s statement.” There’s always more below the surface. Whether it be the layers of old paint and wallpaper revealing the past lives of a room, the petals of an artichoke, or the past moments that create the fleshy sentient masses that we interact with and experience through the lens of our layers. Come, experience a visualization of layers from our artists, some literal and apparent, some clouded and hidden, and add another layer to yourself.”

The opening promises “art, friends, music, fun” — and readings by numerologist Todd Anthonsen. The show will be on view through May 1.
