Big Ship is a side project of former Waterband/current Stoned and Beautiful frontman Dreadlock Dave McDougald and singer/songwriter Michael Rotman. They’ve taken their hippie/jam and acoustic music backgrounds to craft gentle, sunny peace-and-love that subtracts the elements that might not be so, um, family-friendly. In other words, “beautiful” without the “stoned.” There’s also a strain of soft funk that provides a body-moving undertow.
The duo frequently brings friends in for their performances, such as their upcoming annual holiday brunch show at the Nighttown, where Hillbilly Idol drummer Gary Naherny, Mo’Mojo’s Jen Maurer and always upbeat local reggae hero Carlos Jones will be joining them.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for kids. The brunch menu is extra. And they sold out last year, so order your tickets as soon as you can.
