Classical Revolution Cleveland Stands Up for Refugees at the Happy Dog

Classical Revolution

Tue 2/21 @ 8PM

You can catch Classical Revolution — a revolving ensemble of some of the area’s most accomplished classical musicians performing programs a little too pocket-pushing for traditional concert venues — at the Happy Dog and its crosstown partner the Happy Dog at the Euclid Tavern once a month.

They’re at the original Happy Dog in Gordon Square tonight where they will give some stage time to Patrick Kearns, executive director of the Refugee Response to talk about how his organization provides support to refugees in Cleveland to help them settle in. They’ll also be showcasing ways to help.

In a statement, Classical Revolution Cleveland says,

“Cleveland is a city of diverse ethnic, religious, immigrant, AND refugee communities. We understand that each unique population brings with it cultural richness that undoubtedly enriches our city for the better.

We also understand that our world’s current refugee crisis is something about which we are unable to remain silent. It’s not a political ‘issue,’ it is utterly humanitarian.

As such, the musicians of Classical Revolution Cleveland will be dedicating each of February’s public performances to two of Cleveland’s most effective refugee and immigration agencies. We firmly believe that, just as classical music is for EVERYONE in our world, so are basic rights to safety and refuge. We stand with those who are endangered and oppressed, and hope the policies of our nation are motivated by the understanding that compassion and safe haven are inherently American ideals.”

The evening is free.
