Local Musicians Assemble for Great Culture's Songs for the Season for the Food Bank

Thomas Fox’s Greyt Culture organization presents the monthly Greyt Big Talks with creative and entrepreneurial speakers and in the summer, it hosts the Golden Hour rooftop parties with music, food, drinks, tech talks and great views of the sunset from downtown rooftops.

And this month for several years, it’s been hosting Songs for the Season at Forest City Brewing’s Beer Hall in Ohio City. The event is described as “a Cleveland music community holiday concert & sing-along,” held to benefit the Greater Cleveland Food Bank at a time when the need has never been greater. Each year, dozens of area musicians show up to sing a wide range of holiday songs in various configurations and lead the audience in joining in.

This year’s musical guests haven’t been announced but based on previous years, it’s likely to be a who’s who of the local music scene, and based on his ubiquity (and past participation) very like to include Apostle Jones frontman Mikey Silas. (Update: it does! It also includes a bunch of other prominent area musicians such as jazz pianist Theron Brown, Canton pop/rock vocalist Anya Van Rose, classical chamber ensemble Opus 216, soul singer Esther Fitz, singer/songwriter/guitarist Taylor Lamborn, vocalist Jul Big Green, and another ubiquitous musician, rock guitarist/vocalist and music promoter Brent Kirby, as well as Jared Horgan, Ali Kovacevich, Shawn Brewster, Rob Kovacs, Joel Negus, Lady Bri, Autumn, and Toobe Fresco, with Fox hosting.)
