Brooklyn-based goth-folk cabaret act Charming Disaster have become familiar to Clevelanders in many appearance here. Formed in 2012, they’re one of those quirky bands who carve out their own niche and tend to assemble a core of fanatic fans. The group consists of a pair of singer/songwriters, Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris, who share a taste for the strange and macabre. They accompany themselves with ukulele, guitar and foot percussion while performing their original songs on topics such as death, love, myth, magic, crime and the occult.  Their musical mix incorporates influences from murder ballads, the stories of Raymond Chandler, the work of Edward Gorey and the films of Tim Burton. And they always seem to hit the road around the spooky season of Halloween.

When they return to town, they’ll be performing at Tremont’s underground club CODA. Akron-based dark folk singer/songwriter Miss Dreadful opens. Get tickets here.
