The Morgan Conservatory will be opening a new show this week, featuring 15 artists/artist teams from across the country and abroad.
Genius Loci, the Pathos of Places focuses on the impact of unique geographic spaces. “Genius Loci” refers to “the spirit of the place”, and each artist depicts in mediums such as print, photography, missed media, installation and hand papermaking the emotional and spiritual resonance that particular places have for them. Curators Arron Foster and Erik Waterkotte originally assembled the show for the 2024 Mid-American Print Council’s Biannual Print Conference; they are reprising it for the Morgan gallery.
Artists contributing to the show include Ioannis Anastasiou & Majka Dokudowicz, Joey Behrens, Susanna Crum, Stefanie Dykes, Arron Foster, Vinicius Libardoni, Colin Lyons, Lisa Matthias, Malik J. Norman, Dawn Roe, Elizabeth Claire Rose, Nick Satinover & Small Bars, Erik Waterkotte, Ian J. Welch and Josh Winkler.
The show opens with a free, public reception on Friday July 24 where you can meet and talk with the artists. The show will be on view through August 22.
