Dobama Presents Ohio Premiere of Work by Pulitzer-Winning Playwright

Thu 4/23-Sun 5/17

Forty-one-year old Polish-American playwright won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play Cost of Living. It’s among many awards she’s won for her playwriting. Her play Sanctuary City debuted Off-Broadway in 2020 for a short run before it was shut down by COVID. The play’s protagonists are a pair of teens. DREAMERS who came to the U.S. as children, one newly naturalized, the other undocumented, and their idea to get married to protect the latter.

The story takes place in the early 2000s when the idea of protecting and legalizing DREAMERS was gaining momentum, now dead, making the play’s scenario take on ever more urgency.  As a result, when the play has its Cleveland premiere at Dobama Theatre this week, directed by Nathan Motta, it should have even more impact.

It runs through Sunday May 17. Go here for tickets.
