The Cleveland-based Cinematic Symphony Orchestra was founded a little over two years ago by Dr. Andrew Keller, as its name suggests, to perform movie music. It claims that it’s “one of the world’s only professional-caliber orchestras devoted solely to the art of movie soundtrack music.” And with the number of outstanding freelance classical musicians in this area that’s probably not an idol boast. It’s done several themed shows at the Maltz Performing Arts Center with one called “Fantasy Movies in Concert” coming up on May 2.
But before that, it’s got an even bigger show, taking place at Playhouse Square’s State Theatre. There it will play music from Hollywood Blockbusters — Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Lord of the rings, Top Gun, Mission Impossible, James Bond, Superman vs. Batman and many more with hit after exhilarating hit coming right at you, performed by a full live orchestra and choir.
But there’s more! The orchestra will be joined by Northeast Ohio-based instrumental rock guitarist Neil Zaza, who has toured nationally and international in Asia and Europe (he’s embarking on another European tour this spring). He’ll be adding some rock & roll fire and aggression to the already heart-stopping pieces.
