Heights Arts Invites Music Aficionados to an Open Rehearsal for its Close Encounters Concert

Tue 2/3 @ 6PM

Heights Arts’ Close Encounters series gives classical music fans the chance to hear chamber music concerts by some of the area’s most outstanding musicians (often members of the Cleveland Orchestra — they are curated by Cleveland Orchestra cellist Dane Johansen) in intimate settings. But the series offers another opportunity to get even closer to the musicians. Each concert is preceded by an open rehearsal when guests can come and watch the musicians prepare.

This week, the Taplin Quartet will be preparing for its February 8 concert at Dunham Tavern called “From East to West. Musicians include violinists Katherine Bormann and Zhan Shu, violist Gareth Zehnguy, and cellist Martha Baldwin. The rehearsal will be followed by a Q&A so audience members curious about their practice can learn from the players. Heights Arts says, “The length of this event is dependent on the needs of the musicians. You may discreetly exit the event before it is complete if needed.”

This event is free, but reservations are required. Go here to RSVP.
