The City of Akron’s WinterBlast festival will be going strong throughout the period between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s the 21st year of winter activities at Lock 3 downtown (next to the Akron Civic Theatre), including ice skating, bumper cars and ice bike rentals. Archie the Talking Snowman will be onsite each of those days for various hours (check the website) to chat with visitors. And you can check out the vintage animated displays, holiday window displays from the 1950s-80s that were rescued from Akron’s long-shuttered grand downtown department stores. (You’ll find them right behind Archie.)
