One of the biggest problems with the northeast Ohio music scene is we just don’t have enough opportunities to hear soulful rockers Apostle Jones or its dynamic frontman Mikey Silas. Is a dozen appearances a week really often enough? Seriously, though, the music quality of this ensemble and the entertainment level of Silas’ performances would merit that many or more.
And if you haven’t heard them, good grief, what are you waiting for? Head down to the new Globe Iron venue on the West Bank of the Flats for third annual Apostle Jones Holiday Special where more than three dozen top area musicians will be packing the stage. And the guest artist lineup is stellar. It includes Henry LoConti III and Erin Donovan from rapidly rising rockers LoConti, classic/prog rock maestro Carl Baldasarre, soul/gospel/jazz multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Afi Scruggs, high-profile rapper/vocalist Jinari Kemet, powerful soul/pop singer Esther Fitz and a ton of other lesser-known but sure to be great musicians.
The set-up for the show invites an intimate experience: as with the previous two holiday shows, it will be set up as a sort of living room, with sofas and cushions for the audience to loll on, or you can stand close by the stage to soak in the music and have Mikey breathe holiday spirit on you.
