GYASI & Vanity Crash Light Up Jilly’s

Vanity Crash will open for the ultra glam rocker, GYASI (pronounced “Jah See”) Friday, September 19 at Jilly’s Music Room at 8pm.

This may be one of Gyasi’s last small venue shows, where you can see him up close and personal. Next week, he heads for a European tour that will elevate GYASI to the big rooms.

Here is what the Press is saying about GYASI:

Rodney Bingenheimer: “We may not ever have another David Bowie or Marc Bolan but we’ve got Gyasi which is a step in the right direction. Make sure to see him live — There’s no room for boredom when Gyasi hits the stage!”

PASTE: “This man is an enigma to say the least, a glorious mixture of David Bowie and Marc Bolan with the slightest modern twist.”

AUDIO FUZZ: “If anyone can bring back Glam, it is this wonderful peacock.”

BEEHIVE CANDY: “This is a fine celebration of what rock music can still be.”

EMERGING INDIE BANDS: “Spears directly out of the golden age of UK rock’n’roll with its glittering bravado and unfettered self-confidence underpinned by technical competence.”

Louder Sound Classic Rock: After an extremely unusual childhood, West Virginia native Gyasi discovered that playing guitar prevented beatings. Now, with a YouTube smash behind him, he’s on a roll. “I grew up in the way people grew up in the 1930s,” he recalls. “It was so unlike anybody else my age.” At the same time, his Russian neighbours played him music by David Bowie, New York Dolls and Lou Reed. By the age of 10 Gyasi was dressing up and creating alter egos with their daughter. “She would do my make-up and we would create these rock’n’roll characters. The idea of using clothing to communicate, I understood from an early age just how powerful that was.”

Cleveland’s own glam rock superstars Vanity Crash opens the show at 8PM.
