If you love Italian food, music and general vibe, but find the August Feast of the Assumption in Little Italy overwhelming, stop out in Gordon Square this week for a taste of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Festival, now in its 99th year.
For five days you can enjoy full Italian dinners or treats such as sausage sandwiches, cavatelli with meatballs, pizza and lemon ice, along with beer and wine, while enjoying music by DJs and live bands that will provoke lots of spontaneous dancing. Bingo, raffle prizes and the procession of saints on Sunday round out the festivities which are free and open to all.
