NEWS: BorderLight Festival Invites Buskers to Just Show Up and Perform

July 17-19

The BorderLight Festival, featuring a wide variety of performances, will be in residence at Playhouse Square for three days next week, from Thursday July 17 through Saturday July 19, turning the area into a bustling hive of activity.

It’s looking to enhance that sense of wrap-around performances by turning the Playhouse Square Plaza over to local buskers each evening, during “busker blocks” described as “quiet moments in the festival schedule when performers can independently engage with the public.” They didn’t say but we’re guessing since you’re outdoors where anyone can walk by that the performances should be family-friendly. No nudity!

Here’s the cool thing: there is no application process, no auditions, no signing up for a slot. You just show up and perform. You must bring any equipment you need and you’re free to set out your hat or guitar case or whatever and collect tips no one is asking for a cut.

Performance times are Thursday July 17 @ 5-6pm and 6:30-7:45pm; Friday July 18 @ 5-5:30pm, 6:25-7:45pm and 8:15-8:45pm; and Saturday July 19 @ 5:15-6:15pm. It’s pretty simple but if you have questions, contact them at info@borderlightcle.org
