Cleveland Metroparks Hosts "Oh, Bee-Have" Sharing Food, Drink and Information on Bees

Sat 4/26 @ 6-8PM

Pollinators are essential to the production of food crops, and one of the most important of those is honeybees. In recent years, their populations have declined, leading to widespread concern among farmers and attempts to find solutions. Meanwhile, backyard gardeners have been adding beehives to their spaces which benefit the surrounding area.

The Cleveland Metroparks is hosting a special event at the Emerald Necklace Marina in the Rocky River Reservation, called Oh, Bee-Have. There, supporters of a sustainable food system can learn more about the role bees play in a presentation from a Metroparks naturalist, while enjoying food and drinks that could not exist without them, including bee-created and bee-pollinated heavy hors d’oeuvres, both savory and sweet. They include treats such as roasted heirloom carrots with whipped herb ricotta, hot chili infused orange blossom honey, dukkah and fried parsley; pork tenderloin schnitzel, dijon and herb spaetzle with dandelion greens and roasted tomato, burre blanc, pickled dandelion buds and honeycomb; or fried apple empanada with Honey Hut ice cream, shagbark hickory syrup and bee pollen.

A honey tasting and one drink ticket for a cocktail or mocktail are also part of the ticket price. Doors open at 5:30pm. Get tickets here.
