For three decades, until it closed in 2018, Big Fun on Coventry Road was the place to go for vintage toys, fun novelties, pop culture detritus and more. Several generations of kids, along with their kids-at-heart parents, picked up weird and wonderful things there. And when founder/owner Steve Presser reopened at his still-empty former location for a long-run pop-up shop over the holidays this past year, the excitement was palpable.

Relive the fun of discovery at Big Fun Night at the Music Box Supper Club, part of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Parties series. Steve will tell stories about his years with the store, both its original cramped location next to where Marc’s is currently located, and his relocation across the street to the larger (and alas, still empty) storefront. And he’ll be joined by Ted “Uncle Fun” Frankel whose Chicago store Uncle Fun was the inspiration for Big Fun. And while that store closed in 2014, Frankel currently runs curiosity shop Sideshow at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore.

Come hear kookie stories from two overgrown kids. Doors open at 5pm for dinner (reservations required). Program starts at 7pm. It’s free.
