Tremont has been an arts neighborhood since the 90s, when it was down on its heels and artists colonized it with galleries and studio spaces. While it’s a more upscale neighborhood now, it still has its fair share of artist-residents and a small resurgence of galleries.
For 23 years, the annual Tremont Arts and Cultural Festival has celebrated the neighborhood’s role in Cleveland’s art scene with two days of visual and performing arts and community organizations in Lincoln Park.
Five festival villages radiate from the central gazebo: the Children’s Village with hands-on activities and educational opportunities; the Community Village where local nonprofits share information about their missions and local independent vendors sell their wares; the Cultural Village, with food from area restaurants and booths from fair trade merchants and nonprofits; the Artists’ Village, featuring more than 100 Tremont and Cleveland-area artists in a wide range of media; and the Tremont Farmers Market, offering locally grown and produced food.
Performances start on the Main Stage each day at 12:10 following welcoming remarks. They range from the St. Augustine Signing Choir (Saturday @ 12:10pm) to Lingyun Rising Star Acrobats & Chinese Dance School (Saturday @ 3:45pm) to La Salsa Dance Studio (Saturday @ 6:15pm) to the dancers of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation (Sunday @ 1:15pm) to the Piast Polish Folk Song and Dance ensemble (Sunday @ 3pm), reflecting the community’s wide diversity.
The festival is free and open to all.
