For 20 years, Paul Fayrewether fronted the Lorain-based band Fayrewether, which became known especially for its exceptional renditions of songs by Genesis, complete with theatrical accoutrements. At the height of their popularity in the late ’70s and early-mid ’80s, they packed rooms all over the region.
The band attempted some original material and released several album, but never found that sweet spot of converting their Genesis roots into an original style. After they disbanded in the mid ’90s, Fayrewether continued to perform on his own, utilizing his smooth warm voice, charismatic good looks and lingering echoes of Genesis’ prog-rock drama to continue to charm area audiences.
He hasn’t been as active in recent years, but he’s coming out of hibernation to perform at the House of Blues. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
