Art House Inc in the Brooklyn Centre neighborhood is primarily an education organization, making a variety of arts opportunities accessible to all. One of its programs is its community culture nights, a free public program where people can hear from a professional arts-maker about their career and their practice.
This month, the featured guest is photographer Herb Ascherman, whose successful 50+-year career encompasses both professional portrait/wedding/society photographer and fine arts work, including portrait studies of groups of people ranging from religious figures to other artists. He’s also a rare specialist in the black & white print platinum process developed in the 1800s, and a strong advocate for photography in Cleveland: he’s one of the co-founders of the Cleveland Photo Fest which will have its 5th annual edition in September.
