Maureen Choi is a violinist who discovered jazz while studying classical music at Michigan State University. She then won a scholarship to Boston’s noted Berklee College of Music where she continued to explore improvisational music.
Along the way she acquired a passion for the music of the Spanish diaspora and blended it with her classical background in a distinct way. Choi will be in town for a couple of shows: at the Bop Stop in Cleveland on Wed 6/21 and at Blu Jazz + in Akron on Sat 6/24. At Blu Jazz + she’ll also do a master class at 6pm before her concert at 8.
Tickets for each show are $15 ($20 at the door at Blu Jazz +); students with ID are $10.
