Ensemble & Shaharazad Theater Companies Take Audiences “Around the World in 80 Days”

Fri 11/30-Sun 12/16

Baby boomers may vaguely remember the 1956 adventure film Around the World in 80 Days based on the1873 Jules Verne novel; it was remade, as classic movies inevitably are, in 2004.

Now there’s a world premiere stage adaptation about the British gentleman Phileas Fogg who accepts a bet from members of his club to perform the titular feat, presented by the Cleveland Heights-based Shaharazad Theatre Co. It’s directed by Shaharazad co-founder August Scarpelli at Ensemble Theatre, which has supported the fledging, youthful company since its founding less than two years ago. The production is described as “an interactive adventure for the whole family,” so it’s bound to be light-hearted entertaining fun with no really scary parts or sub-plots about warring dysfunctional families.

It runs Fridays and Saturdays @ 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays @ 2pm through Su 12/16. Tickets are $10-$20.
