Cookies for Kids Raises Money to Feed Kids Over the Summer

Wed 6/5

When the school year wraps up, parents must adapt to the increased needs of their children — childcare, activities and even food. Many Cleveland kids rely on the breakfast and lunch programs the school provides to get their daily sustenance. So what happens when summer arrives?

Cleveland and its neighbors are lucky to have a strong network of food banks, none of which would be able to function without community support. For the fifth year, Cleveland Independents partners with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank to organize Cookies for Kids — a collaborative fundraiser that provides funds towards these organizations.

On Wed 6/5, participating restaurants will be selling $2.50 cookies, of which all the proceeds will go to benefit the two food banks. Last summer, this fundraiser raised $10,000 for the Cleveland Food Bank alone, which feeds thousands of children every year, and expects to serve more that 200,000 meals this summer.
